‘In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. ‘
- We do not know how or what to pray about.
- We need the help of the Holy Spirit to know what to say.
- The Holy Spirit is our intercessor between the Father and us in prayer.
- The Holy Spirit is our teacher about prayer.
- Romans 8:34
Jesus is the intercessor between us and God the Father during prayer.
Jesus is our Advocate if we sin against God. (John 2:1-2)
- Matthew 6:9-13: THE PRAYER THE LORD TAUGHT US.
- When the disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray, He taught them to pray this prayer:
Our Father who is in heaven: To pray to God, you must be born again as His child. God does not hear sinners: John 9:31, Psalm 66:18-19.
Hallowed be Your name: The name of God must be sanctified, set apart as holy, not to be taken in vain.
May Your kingdom come! We are to invite God’s kingdom to come in our daily decision-making situations: family, work, business, studies, enterprises, plans.
May Your will be done on earth as it is done in heaven: The will of God is to prevail, not ours. The will of God is good, pleasant, and perfect: Romans 12:2.
Give us our daily bread: We ask for everything we need to sustain our lives. All our needs are to be brought to God’s attention for supply.
We ask God to forgive us our sins, and we also forgive those who have offended us. (Refusing to forgive others hinders the forgiveness of God in our own lives: Matthew 6:14-15).
We ask God not to lead us into temptations. God can wipe out the temptations before the day begins: Prayer will take away temptations from your life. Matthew 26:40-41. Pray that you may not fall into temptations.
We ask God to deliver us from the evil one. The world is evil, the flesh is evil, Satan is evil and is the prince of this world.
We need God to deliver us from the evil one. We must pray for that deliverance. Luke 10:19. Jesus gave us the power to trample over serpents and scorpions – nothing can harm us.
We worship the Father again by recognizing that the kingdom, the glory, and power are His forever and forever and we all say: AMEN!
- When the disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray, He taught them to pray this prayer:
Father: thank you for providing me guidance, coaching and teaching on prayer in your word I am told that the Holy Spirit helps me to pray so does my Lord Jesus Christ who intercedes for me. I have these two persons in God helping me pray. Thank you.
