Ephesians 6:18 There are many times of prayers in the Bible: says we ought to pray all types of prayer:
- Requests, Supplications, Prayers (Petitions), Praise, Confession of Sin, Intercessions, Thanksgiving, Fasting, Watch Night -Prayer, Prayer with authority: Cast out the demons in the name of Jesus Christ), Cry to the Lord, and Worship.
We must pray all kinds of the prayer the Bible mentions in the above passage.
- Prayer of request-Supplications for Salvation
- 1 Timothy 2:1-6 : Prayer for salvation of lost souls
We believers are called to pray with supplications, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings, for all people to be saved.
- Philippians 4: 6: Prayer of Requests, supplications and thanksgiving to God for our circumstances.
- Acts 16: 25-31: Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises unto God, and the prisoners heard them. Praise God in hardship and let the world see us too so.
- Genesis 18:18-32: Abraham pleaded with the Lord to spare the lives of the people of Sodom and Gomorrah.
- Exodus 32:11-14: Moses pleaded with God to forgive His people He brought out of Egypt.
Prayer: Thank you, Lord Jesus, for laying down your life for me, for taking away my sins and making me by God’s grace a child of God. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for sealing my salvation, thank Father for your drawing me to Christ by your grace. In Christ’s name Amen.
Prayer of Praise to God for what He has done
- 1 Chronicles 29:10-21: David gave sacrifices of high value, so did his ministers and the people. The joy was great, and they celebrated the Lord with Thanksgiving Prayers.
- 2 Samuel 6:15-23: David danced and praised God in front of the congregation and the people with him, but his wife despised him, and she was barren all her life.
- Psalm 118: Give Thanks to the Lord, for He is good and because His mercy endures forever.
- Psalm 103: 1-7 My soul bless the Lord, and forget none of his benefits: It is the Lord who forgives all your sins, it is the Lord who heals all your diseases, it is the Lord redeems you from the pit, it is the Lord who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies, it is the Lord who satisfies your mouth with good things, it is the Lord who renews your strength like the one of an eagle, it is the Lord who executes judgment when you are oppressed. The Lord showed Moses his ways and his deeds to Israel.
Prayer: Father God, I want to be a child who always praises you for the good that you have done and continue to do for me eternally. I praise you, Lord!
Prayer of Perseverance until we receive from God a response
- Luke 11: 5-13 the friend did not want to give him the bread, but because the needy friend persisted, the other friend woke up and gave him the bread. Jesus concludes: you being evil, you give your children good gifts, how much more shall your Heaven Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
- God wants us to come to his throne and ask him good things, and the best is the Holy Spirit. He wants to bless us with a deeper dose of love for God in the Holy Spirit. If we men give good things to our children, of course God who is better than us will give us his children better and more valued things!
- Matthew 7:7-11 Same thing how much more shall, God will give good things to those who ask him?
- Same concept here, we ask God to provide for us because he is the Provider as Jehovah JIREH, He loved us enough to give Jesus on the cross, of course He is going to continue to give us in his unmeasurable love.
- Luke 18:1-18 The widow went to bother the wicked Judge every day, so the Judge was tired of her bothering and gave her justice. Will God tarry to respond to us as we keep asking? No, He will swiftly render us justice, but we need faith.
Prayer: My Father God; thank you for allowing me to approach you in worshipping you and presenting my needs to you and obtain from your hand all things that I need. Thank you for filling me with the Holy Spirit who is my teacher and intercessor on prayer, in the name of Jesus Christ; Amen.
Prayer of Authority – Deliverance from bondage
- Luke 10:19, Matthew 9:35, 10:7-8 To cast out demons in the name of Jesus Christ is a prayer of authority that Jesus gives us as children of God. Jesus gave us the power to crush the powers of darkness by submitting ourselves to God, resisting the Devil, so he flees from us. Colossians 2:12-15: Jesus defeated the Devil, crushed his head and made us free by nailing to the cross our condemnation, by spoiling the principalities, ridiculing and triumphing over them by the cross
- 2 Corinthians 10: 3-6: Using the armors of God that we have: Truth, Righteousness, Readiness of the Gospel, Assurance of salvation, Faith, Word of God and Prayer; we demolish the strongholds, the we demolish the arguments of Satan, we demolish the pretensions that set themselves above the knowledge of God, and we bring captive all thoughts under the obedience of Christ, when the applicant’s your obedience is complete.
- Acts 19:19-20: Those who practiced magic brought the instruments of their witchcraft, and they were burned and made free from those bondages: Today we have destroyed the phones and computers of pornography and bad books of horror.
- John 8:32-38: Jesus makes us free, and we are free indeed. We know the truth and the truth makes us free from the inside out.
- Matthew 9:35, 10:7-8: Jesus did deliverance first, then sent His disciples to do it, and now sends believers to cast out demons, pray for the sick and see them healed.
- Mark 16:17-18: Every believer in Christ Jesus is accompanied by the power to cast out demons, to speak in tongues if needed, to seize serpents (to dominate the evil powers) and to lay hands on the sick and see them healed. h. Matthew 12:43-45 When someone is delivered from evil spirit, the evil sprits come back to see if the house is empty, they call more spirits to invade the person, and the condition of that person is worse than before. Be filled with the Holy Spirit not of wine: Ephesians 5:18
Prayer: Father, I submit myself to you in the name of my Lord Jesus Christ and I resist the Devil in my life, and he flees from me. Jesus forgave all my sins, snatched my act of condemnation, nailed it on the cross, spoiled the principalities, trampled them under his feet and triumphed over them by the cross: Amen
PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING:
1 Thessalonians 5:18, Romans 12:12, Ephesians 6:18, Colossians 4:2
Praying to thank God for what He has done in our lives is a great source of answered prayers from the Lord.
Luke 17:11-19: Jesus healed 10 lepers, and only 1 Samaritan came back to worship and thank God. Jesus was indignant by this ungratefulness the nine Jewish lepers showed.
Prayer: Father God, thank you for creating and saving me through the Lord Jesus Christ, and for providing for me the provision of my life. May life be a flagrance of thanksgiving to you and the body of Christ around me.
PRAYER OF WORSHIP: John 4:2-24
Jesus told the woman at the well that God is looking for people who worship God in truth and spirit – these are true worshippers.
Examples of Worship in the Bible:
Genesis 4: Eve worshiped God when she recognized that by His grace, she delivered or gave birth to a man.
Genesis 4:26: When Seth had a son called Enosh, men (mankind) began to call on the name of the Lord.
Genesis 5:21-22: Enoch walked with God, prayed constantly, and God took him alive to heaven – he did not see death.
Exodus 3: 1-15: Moses worshiped God at the burning bush.
Isaiah 6:1-9: Isaiah sees God worshipped in the Temple: Holy, Holy, Holy
Revelation 4: 4-11 The Father is sitting on the Throne and is worshipped
Revelation 5:1-12 The Lamb of God Jesus Christ is worshipped
Revelation 5:13-14 The Father and the Lamb are worshiped
Prayer: Father, I know that you seek worshipers who worship you in truth (the word of God) and in spirit, may you find my worship pleasant to your ears. You are holy, holy, holy, all the earth is full of glory. Amen
